To observe the clinical effect of catgut embedment at Jiaji(EX-B2)on the upper back and the original point on the medial border of scapula for mastodynia. Methods:A total of 72 cases of patients with mastodynia were divided into the observation group and the control group according to the random number table method,36 cases in each group. The observation group was given catgut embedment at Jiaji(EX-B2)on the upper back and the area with tenderness on the medial border of scapula, and the control group was given acupuncture therapy on the breast and with the point selection based on syndrome differentiation. The curative effect in two groups was compared. Results:After treatment, the scores of Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)in the two groups were decrease when compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and the decrease in the observation group was superior to that in the control group(P < 0.05).After treatment, the scores of Hospital Anxiety and Depression-Anxiety Scale(HAD-A)and Hospital Anxiety and Depression-Depression Scale(HAD-D)in the two groups were improved when compared with those before treatment, differences being significant(P <0.05);there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the scores between the two groups(P > 0.05).No significant difference was found in the comparison of the total effective rates in the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:The application of catgut embedment on the upper back and the original point on the medial border of scapula in treating patients with mastodynia can effectively eliminate their pain of the breast.
