To observe and analyze the effect of Hongjingtian Cream combined with Mudan Capsules on the improvement of clinical symptoms and the decrease of the total symptom scores(TSS)in patients with type 2 diabetic peripheral neuropathy，and its effect on vibrating perception threshold(VPT)and nerve conduction velocity(NCV)，so as to provide references for the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy(DPN).Methods：A total of 74 cases of patients with DPN were randomly divided into three groups.The ControlⅠ group(25 cases)received conventional treatment； the ControlⅡ group(25 cases)was additionally treated with Mudan Capsules based on conventional treatment；the treatment group(24 cases)was additionally treated with Mudan Capsules combined with Hongjingtian Cream based on conventional treatment.The clinical symptoms，improvement of TSS and changes of VPT and NCV were observed in the three groups.Results：Four weeks after treatment， the improvement of clinical symptoms， TSS and VPT in the treatment group were significantly decreased when compared with those in the ControlⅠandⅡ groups，differences being significant(P＜0.01，P＜0.05).The NCV was significantly increased，the difference being significant(P＜0.01，P＜0.05).Conclusion：The therapy of Hongjingtian Cream combined with Mudan Capsules has significant therapeutic effect in treating patients with DPN，which can improve the clinical symptoms of them，reduce TSS and VPT，and improve NCV.It is also safe and worthy of further clinical research and promotion.
