Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of Yangxue Qufeng Shengfa Decoction combined with Compound Glycyrrhizin Capsules for alopecia areata and its effect on inflammatory factors in serum. Methods： A total of 108 cases of patients with alopecia areata were randomly divided into the treatment group and the control group，with 54 cases in each group. The control group was treated with Compound Glycyrrhizin Capsules， and the treatment group was additionally treated with Yangxue Qufeng Shengfa Decoction based on the treatment of the control group. The changes in levels of Th17 cells and Treg cells in peripheral blood and interleukin- 6 (IL- 6) and interleukin- 23 (IL- 23) in serum， as well as the clinical effects，scores of quality of life，incidence of adverse reactions were observed and compared between the two groups. Results： The total effective rate was 96.30% in the treatment group， higher than that of 79.63% in the control group， the difference being significant between the two groups (P＜0.05). Before treatment，there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the scores of quality of life including physical functioning，psychological condition and social role functioning between the two groups (P＞0.05)； after treatment， the above scores of quality of life in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)，and the scores in the treatment group were higher than those in the control group (P＜0.05). Before treatment，there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the levels of Th17 cells and Treg cells in peripheral blood between the two groups (P＞ 0.05)； after treatment， the levels of Th17 cells in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)， and the levels of Treg cells in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)； the improvement of the two indexes in the treatment group was more significant than that in the control group (P＜0.05). Before treatment， there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the levels of IL- 6 and IL-23 in serum between the two groups (P＞0.05)； after treatment， the levels of IL- 6 and IL- 23 in serum in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)， and the two levels in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group (P＜0.05). During treatment， the incidence of adverse reactions was 5.56% in the treatment group and 7.41% in the control group，and there being no significant difference being found between the two groups (P＞0.05). Conclusion： Yangxue Qufeng Shengfa Decoction combined with Compound Glycyrrhizin Capsules for alopecia areata can improve clinical effects， effectively regulate the proportion of Th17 and Treg cells in peripheral blood，reduce the levels of IL-6 and IL-23 and the incidence of adverse reactions，and enhance the quality of life.
