Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of Huaiqihuang Granules combined with western medicine for children with purpura nephritis. Methods：A total of 74 cases of children with purpura nephritis of deficiency of qi and yin type were included and divided into the treatment group and the control group according to the random number table method， with 37 cases in each group. Both groups were treated with Prednisolone Acetate Tablets and Azathioprine Tablets， and the treatment group was additionally treated with Huaiqihuang Granules. Both groups were treated for 3 months. Before treatment and after 3- month treatment， red blood cell counts in urine sediment， 24- hour urinary protein quantification， immune function indexes including CD3 +，CD4 +，CD8 + and the ratio of CD4 +/CD8 +，fibrinogen (FIB) and vascular cell adhesion molecule- 1 (VCAM- 1) were detected. During treatment，the incidence of adverse reactions in the two groups was observed. The clinical effects in the two groups were compared. Results： After 3-month treatment，the total effective rate in the treatment group was higher than that in the control group (P＜0.05). The levels of CD3 +，CD4 + and the ratio of CD4 +/CD8 + in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)， and the levels of CD8 + were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05). The levels of CD3+，CD4+ and the ratio of CD4+/CD8+ in the treatment group were higher than those in the control group (P＜0.05)，and the level of CD8+ was lower than that in the control group (P＜0.05). Red blood cell counts in urine sediment，values of 24-hour urinary protein quantification and levels of FIB and VCAM- 1 in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)；the red blood cell count in urine sediment，the value of 24- hour urinary protein quantification and the levels of FIB and VCAM- 1 in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group (P＜0.05). During medication ， no obvious adverse reaction was observed in the two groups. Conclusion： Huaiqihuang Granules combined with Prednisolone Acetate Tablets and Azathioprine Tablets have a definite clinical effect in the treatment of children with purpura nephritis of deficiency of qi and yin type，which can significantly enhance the immunity of children，reduce inflammatory damage，improve hypercoagulable state of blood in the body and further protect the kidney， without obvious adverse reactions.
