Abstract： Objective： To observe the curative effect of modified Guishen tang combined with aripiprazole tablets for schizophrenia of heart-spleen deficiency type. Methods：A total of 86 cases of patients with schizophrenia of heart-spleen deficiency type were divided into two groups according to the random number table method，43 cases in each group. Both groups were treated with aripiprazole tablets，and the observation group was additionally given oral administration of modified Guishen tang. Both groups were treated for three months. Before treatment and after three-month treatment，the scores of Positive and Negative Symptoms Scale(PANSS) and Self- Perceived Burden Scale(SPBS) were evaluated，and the levels of tumor necrosis factor(TNF) - α and interleukin(IL) - 6 in serum were detected. The clinical effect in the two groups was compared. Results： After three- month treatment， the total effective rate of clinical effect in the observation group was higher than that in the control group(P＜0.05). The scores of positive symptoms， negative symptoms and general psychopathology in PANSS as well as physical element，affective factors，economic factors in SPBS in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.01)，and the above six scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.01). The levels of TNF- α and IL- 6 in serum in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.01)，the levels of TNF-α and IL-6 in serum in the observation group were fewer than those in the control group(P＜0.01). Conclusion： Modified Guishen tang combined with aripiprazole tablets has significant curative effect in treating schizophrenia of heart- spleen deficiency type， and can alleviate clinical symptoms， improve mental health and reduce the degree of inflammatory injury of nerve cells.
