Abstract： Objective： To observe the effect of Chinese medicine emotional nursing on negative emotion and stress response of patients undergoing radiotherapy for breast cancer. Methods： A total of 200 cases of patients undergoing radiotherapy for breast cancer were selected and divided into the observation group and the control group according to the random number table method，100 cases in each group. The control group was given routine nursing，and the observation group was additionally given Chinese medicine emotional nursing based on the nursing of the control group. Both groups were nursed for eight weeks. Before and after nursing，the scores of Self- rating Anxiety Scale(SAS) and Self- rating Depression Scale(SDS) as well as the levels of adrenocorticotropic hormone(ACTH) and cortisol(COR) in plasma in the two groups were compared. The nursing effect in the two groups was evaluated. Results：After nursing，the scores of SAS and SDS in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before nursing(P＜0.05)， and the scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05). After nursing， ACTH levels in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before nursing(P＜0.05)，and the level in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P＜0.05). COR levels in the two groups were increased when compared with those before nursing(P＜0.05)，and the level in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(P＜0.05). The nursing effect in the observation group was better than that in the control group(Z =3.594，P＜0.05). Conclusion：The application of Chinese medicine emotional nursing for patients undergoing radiotherapy for breast cancer can improve their negative emotion and reduce stress response，with good nursing effect.
