Abstract：Objective：To observe the effect of Yangwei Qingre prescription on clinical symptoms，gingival index and the depth of periodontal pocket in patients with periodontitis. Methods：A total of 160 cases of patients with periodontitis were selected and divided into the control group and the observation group according to the random number table method， 80 cases in each group. The control group was treated with metronidazole， and the observation group was additionally given Yangwei Qingre prescription based on the treatment of the control group. The clinical effect was compared between the two groups. The changes in scores of clinical symptoms， gingival index， the depth of periodontal pocket， the incidence of adverse reactions and satisfaction of patients were evaluated. Results：The total effective rate was 96.3% in the observation group and 86.3% in the control group，the difference being significant(P＜0.05). Before treatment，compared the scores of gingival bleeding，gingival redness and swelling，and gingival pyorrhea between the two groups，there was no significance in the difference(P＞0.05). After treatment， the scores of gingival bleeding， gingival redness and swelling， and gingival pyorrhea in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05)； the scores of gingival bleeding and gingival redness and swelling in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05). Before treatment，compared the gingival index and the depth of periodontal pocket between the two groups，there was no significance in the difference(P＞0.05). After treatment， the gingival indexes in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment， and the index in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P＜0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions was 5.0% in the observation group，lower than that of 15.0% in the control group(P＜0.05). The satisfaction degree was 95.0% in the observation group，higher than that of 81.3% in the control group (P＜0.05). Conclusion： Yangwei Qingre prescription has significant curative effect， good medication safety and high satisfaction in treating patients with periodontitis，which can be a preferred medication regimen.
