Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of the therapy of Naoliqing capsules combined with nifedipine contorolled release tables on essential hypertension of type of ascendant hyperactivity of liver yang. Methods：A total of 124 patients with essential hypertension of type of ascendant hyperactivity of liver yang were selected and divided into the observation group and the control group according to random number table method，62 patients in each group. The control group was given nifedipine contorolled release tablets， and the observation group was additionally treated with Naoliqing capsules based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for three months. The levels of blood pressure in the two groups before and after treatment were compared，the clinical effect was evaluated and compared，and the incidence of adverse reactions was observed. Results： Six weeks and twelve weeks after treatment， the levels of systolic blood pressure(SBP) and diastolic blood pressure(DBP) in both groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment(P＜0.01). After six weeks of treatment，there were no significant difference in the comparison of SBP and DBP levels in both groups(P＞0.05). Twelve weeks after treatment，the decrease of SBP and DBP levels in the observation group was more significant than that in the control group(P＜0.01). The total effective rate was 95.16% in the observation group，higher than that of 82.26% in the control group(P＜0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions in the observation group was 9.68% ， lower than that of 20.97% in the control group(P＜0.05). Conclusion： The therapy of Naoliqing capsules combined with nifedipine contorolled release tablets has better curative effect than nifedipine contorlled release tablets alone in treating essential hypertension of type of ascendant hyperactivity of liver yang，and can reduce the incidence of adverse reactions.
